Boomer Yoga, 35+, beginners - anyone who wants to gain or maintain health and confidence in movement. Don't let your present state prevent you from benefiting from yoga, you can do it - where you are now is the perfect place to start!
You do not need to have practiced yoga before - I can help! I teach Gentle, Hatha, Vinyasa Slow Yoga, and Chair Yoga - Privates or Group Classes. Yoga can be practiced by ANY body.
In my late 30's I was almost crippled by pain and lack of movement. My doctor suggested I try yoga, I had never done it before! My first teacher, Stephanie, came to my house and taught me, bit by bit, the basic moves of yoga. From there I started going to neighborhood classes. I am in better health today at 53 than I was before - and I am stronger with more energy.
I'm interested in working with the 35+ crowd on balance and confidence in movement, ease of stress, and benefiting from the ease and control yoga can give you with your body and mind. Also, as time goes on - maintaining independence in lifestyle is a major concern - and keeping, or restoring, the ability to drive, dance, garden, ride a motorcycle, play with grandchildren, stay independent in your home and move energetically with confidence through your later years. Having the physical ability to live YOUR life the way YOU wish to is the goal of my teachings.
I studied therapeutic yoga at the Abhyasa Yoga Center with J. Brown. J. is a trailblazer in the therapeutic yoga field, taking the 'Householder Yogic tradition' and westernizing the ideas around all yoga being accessible to all people. J. is known for his pragmatic approach to teaching personal, breath-centered therapeutic yoga adapted to individual needs, including chronic or acute conditions.
